A Matter of Choice: A Companion for Making Everyday or Life-changing Choices
Dena Michelli and Julie Simpson (Marshall Cavendish 2011)

Choice is about deciding between a number of possibilities; picking from a variety of options; selecting a preference. We encounter situations where we have to make choices some minor, some potentially life altering nearly every day of our lives. This book is a companion to help anyone make the right choices, at the right time, whether they are ordinary choices or those which will determine your future. Through examples and conversations, the authors reveal the dynamics of making choices and the factors that can lead to making the right decisions for your particular circumstances. Applying this framework for making choices will help improve your relationships, home life, work life, the way you handle money, and your general ability to discern what is good and bad for you. In nearly all instances, you have freedom to choose. Making the right choices will lead to a more fulfilling and prosperous future.

Business: The Ultimate Resource
(A & C Black Publishers Ltd; 2Rev Ed edition, 2006)

This book is a compendium of essays which 'clip the peaks' of multiple business topics. It is all you need to keep you well informed and up to date on business and organisational theory as well as getting practical help in solving problems. I wasn't the sole author of this encyclopaedic book, but I was a major contributor of the Actionlists which help people think through professional development approaches and human resource issues. This book is described by the Harvard Business Review as 'A rich treasury of information'.

Make it Happen: How to get ahead and be happy at work
(Bloomsbury Publishing PLC, 2005)

This book comprises a selection of short essays that focus on a particular management topic. It is extremely practical and gives you the essential information to get you going on your career. Topics range from Building Self-confidence to Coping with Discrimination. In addition, you get advice on how to apply for the job you want and what to do at the interview.

Successful Networking in-a-week
(Barron’s Educational Series Incorporated, 1997)

This is another practical book, although the focus is on networking your way to success. People often think of networking as a political and manipulative activity but it is an essential skill to building relationships in both the personal and professional arenas. Being conscious about what you’re doing enables you to plan thoughtfully and to build sound, reciprocal relationships. It is not about putting on an act or being disingenuous.
