My background
I started my career as a Mechanical Engineer working with computer modelling packages to design novel engine components and production processes. Although extremely
rewarding, I decided that I probably wouldn’t make a senior position in the engineering climate of the 1980’s so I changed career direction and joined what was then
the Institute of Management (now the Chartered Management Institute) where I ran their senior executive programmes for a number of years.
Following this, I went to London Business School where I furthered my knowledge of and developed my skills in leadership development. Here I worked as an Associate
Director, representing the School and developing the business, and a Programme Director, where I ran the Accelerated Development Programme - for aspiring leaders -
and the Senior Executive Programme – for the leaders of industry.
I left London Business School to further develop my consulting and coaching skills with RSM Potentia International Limited; a consultancy that specialises in the
identification, development and deployment of executive talent.
I earned a Masters degree in Human Resource Development at Lancaster University and was awarded my PhD in transformative learning by the University of Surrey.
I continue to have research interests in the area of personal and professional transformation and growth and like to write about my findings in books and articles.
I am also quite often quoted in Glamour and Cosmopolitan.
In my spare time, I make stained glass windows. If you’d like to see some samples of my work, please go to the personal interests page.
